What is a Tourist Fee?
A Tourist Fee is a mandatory charge applied to each tourist per night stayed in our properties in Mauritius, effective from 01 October 2025.
What is the amount of Tourist Fee to be paid?
The Tourist Fee of 3€ is applicable per tourist aged 12 years and above, per night stayed in a tourist accommodation.
Who are not required to pay the Tourist Fee?
The Tourist Fee does not apply to:
• Tourists under the age of 12 years
• Tourists who stay free of charge
• Residents of Mauritius
• Mauritians living abroad and holding a Mauritian Passport
• Holders of a valid Premium Visa or Holders of a valid Residence Permit.
What proof should guests provide for exemptions?
• Valid passport for nationality/residency checks
• Valid Residence Permit or Premium Visa documentation
• For minors, the date of birth on the passport is sufficient
Who is considered a “tourist” under the Tourism Authority Act?
A tourist is defined as: “Any person who, away from home, travels within Mauritius for a period of less than 12 months and who visits or intends to visit any place.”
What is a “tourist accommodation”?
A Tourist Accommodation refers to a tourist enterprise (such as a “Domaine”, Guesthouse, Hotel, or Tourist Residence) registered, or required to be registered, under the Tourism Authority Act.
What is considered a “night” under the Tourism Authority Act?
A “night” means the hours, or part thereof, between midnight and 6 a.m., and between 6 p.m. and midnight.
Is the Tourist fee included in the room rate or billed separately?
The Tourist Fee is not included in the room rate and must be paid separately.
How is the Tourist fee collected?
The Tourist Fee of 3€ per person, per night is collected upon check-in at the resort.
If I cancel or shorten my stay, is the Tourist feed refundable for the unused nights?
The Tourist Fee will be refunded if your stay is shortened and nights remain unused.
Does the Tourist fee apply if I arrive late / leave early?
The Tourist Fee applies to both late check-ins and early check-outs.
Is the Tourist fee an official government tax?
The Tourist Fee is an official government tax.
Is the Tourist fee included in advertised prices?
The Tourist Fee is not included in our advertised prices.
